How to choose the right fabric?
CHOOSING THE PERFECT FABRIC FOR YOUR BLINDS
Selecting the right fabric affects not only the look of your blinds but also their functionality. The ideal choice will vary depending on the room—what works for a bedroom may not suit a living room or bathroom.
Key questions to ask yourself when choosing:
- How much light do you want to let in?
- How much privacy do you need?
- Which room will the blinds be installed in?
- Do you need any special features (e.g. flame retardant, acoustic properties, mould resistance)?

A Closer Look at Each Fabric Type
Sheer (transparent) fabrics
Light, airy and bright - perfect for those who want as much natural light as possible. They create a welcoming atmosphere, maintain a connection with the outside and visually enlarge the space. Not suitable where privacy is a priority.
Light-filtering (translucent) fabrics
The perfect compromise between light and privacy. They shade without darkening - ideal for rooms where you want natural light but don't want to be seen from outside. They limit visibility from the outside while still allowing a partial view out.
Blackout fabrics
Designed for complete darkness - no light gets through. Ideal for bedrooms or any room where complete darkness is needed (such as for daytime sleep). During summer, they help keep interiors cooler and can reduce air conditioning costs. Blackout fabrics with a white backing are especially effective at reflecting heat.
What to Consider When Choosing a Fabric
Fabric weight - higher weight = thicker fabric with better light and sound reduction insulation
Absorption - how much light the fabric absorbs (which is converted into heat)
Reflection - how much light it reflects back, ideal for preventing overheating
Special Fabric Properties
🔥 Flame-retardant - suitable for spaces with higher safety requirements
🔇 Acoustic (sound-absorbing) - ideal for busy rooms or spaces with echo
🦠 Antimicrobial & mould-resistant - perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, wellness areas and pool rooms
